Christoph A. KahlPrincipal, Chairman
Christoph Kahl is one of the two founding partners of Jamestown, headquartered in Atlanta. Mr. Kahl also founded Jamestown US-Immobilien GmbH in Cologne, Germany. Residing in Cologne and frequently traveling to the United States, Mr. Kahl continues to serve as Managing Partner of both sister companies. As Chairman of the company’s investment committee, Mr. Kahl leads the acquisition, asset management and disposition discussions. He serves as Treasurer of the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate (AFIRE) and on several advisory committees. Mr. Kahl received the Diplom-Kaufmann from the University of Cologne in 1977 and has specialized in U.S. real estate for more than 30 years.
Matt M. BronfmanPrincipal, Chief Executive Officer
Matt Bronfman is a Principal and the Chief Executive Officer of Jamestown. Mr. Bronfman joined the company in 1998 as General Counsel and in 2002 was named Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer. He became CEO in 2012, and is responsible for managing Jamestown’s global operations and overseeing corporate strategy and execution. Under Matt’s leadership, Jamestown has grown its portfolio of assets in the U.S. and expanded into Latin America and Europe. Mr. Bronfman has more than 25 years of experience in real estate and has led the acquisition, redevelopment and oversight for over $20 billion in projects, including Chelsea Market in New York City, Ponce City Market in Atlanta, Industry City in Brooklyn, the Innovation and Design Building in Boston, and Ghirardelli Square in San Francisco. Prior to joining Jamestown, Mr. Bronfman practiced law at Holland & Knight. He currently serves on the boards for the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate (AFIRE), the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership, the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta, and the Jewish Funders Network. Mr. Bronfman also serves as President of the Board of Directors for the Jamestown Charitable Foundation, which supports nonprofits to help make cities more enjoyable places to live and work. He has been recognized as a leader in the industry and is a recipient of the Real Estate Roundtable President’ Circle Award; New York Observer’s 100 Most Powerful People in New York Real Estate in 2013 and 2015; Commercial Observer Top 100 Most Powerful People in Commercial Real Estate 2015, 2016, and 2017; and Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Most Admired CEO in 2017. Mr. Bronfman graduated Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude from Tufts University in Boston and attended law school at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, graduating magna cum laude.
Michael PhillipsPrincipal, President
Michael Phillips is a Principal and the President of Jamestown. As President, Mr. Phillips oversees the development and execution of the company’s real estate projects globally. During his tenure, Jamestown has grown its portfolio of assets in key markets throughout the U.S. and expanded its investment footprint to South America and Europe, more than tripling the firm’s assets under management. Michael Phillips is the driving force behind the company’s adaptive reuse projects including Chelsea Market in New York City, Ponce City Market in Atlanta, Industry City in Brooklyn, and Ghirardelli Square in San Francisco. Mr. Phillips is nationally recognized for his creative leadership and ability to build unique, iconic urban centers. Michael Phillips serves as the Vice-Chairman of the James Beard Foundation, sits on the boards of Governors for the Urban Land Institute, Friends of the High Line, the Real Estate Board of New York, and is a member of the Partnership for New York City. Mr. Phillips has received numerous honors for his creative work and philanthropic activities. He’s been named a Hero of the Harbor by the Waterfront Alliance, an honoree of the Hudson Guild, recipient of both the 2010 Urban Land Institute "Development of Excellence" award for the White Provisions Development in Atlanta and the Urban Design Commission award for his ability to create sophisticated mixed-use districts. He attended the American University in London.
Chris KopeckyChief Financial Officer
Chris Kopecky is the Chief Financial Officer of Jamestown. Mr. Kopecky is a CPA and began his career in public accounting spending nine years with Arthur Andersen and three years with Ernst & Young. He was a Senior Manager in the business advisory practice, serving publicly traded and privately held clients in the real estate and financial services industries. In 2005, Mr. Kopecky became the Chief Accounting Officer at Edens, a leading owner, operator and developer of retail real estate in Columbia, South Carolina. At Edens, he oversaw all aspects of accounting, forecasting, tax, treasury and investor reporting. Mr. Kopecky graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Oklahoma’s Price College of Business. He has also completed executive coursework at Harvard Business School and is a member of the Finance Committee of The Westminster Schools in Atlanta.
W. Jeffrey BeckhamManaging Director, Head of Institutional Investment Management, and Fund Manager – Premier Property Fund
W. Jeffrey Beckham is a Managing Director, the Head of Institutional Investment Management, and the Fund Manager of the Premier Property Fund of Jamestown. Mr. Beckham oversees all institutional investor products at Jamestown, which includes serving as Fund Manager and Investment Committee member for Jamestown’s open-end core-plus investment vehicle, the Premier Property Fund, and overseeing and serving on the Investment Committees for Jamestown’s Latin America investment fund and open-end Timberland Fund. He joined Jamestown in 2010. Mr. Beckham started his career working in Morgan Stanley’s real estate group, focusing on both advisory and principal transactions based in New York, London and Tokyo. Upon leaving Morgan Stanley, he joined Hines in London and helped start and fully invest Hines’ first European Development Fund. After leaving Hines, Mr. Beckham joined Tishman Speyer in their New York headquarters in 2004, and then helped open their Atlanta office in 2007. While at Tishman Speyer, he worked on acquisitions, development, dispositions, asset management, portfolio management and leasing. Mr. Beckham is a member of the Pension Real Estate Association and the Urban Land Institute and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Real Estate Executive Council (REEC). He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Metro Atlanta YMCA, Junior Achievement of Georgia and The Children’s School. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business in 1998.
Cindy LanoisManaging Director, Tax Services
Cindy Lanois is a Managing Director, Tax Services of Jamestown. She originally joined Jamestown in 2000 as Tax Manager, and in 2005 moved on to join the accounting firm of AGH Business Advisors and CPA’s, where she served as Chief Operating Officer, Global Taxation Leader, and member of the Executive Board. She rejoined Jamestown in 2014 as Managing Director of Tax Services. During her tenure at Jamestown and in public accounting she specialized in complex federal, multi-state and international tax planning and consulting for real estate investors, developers and owner-operators. Ms. Lanois is a member of the American Institute of CPA’s and the Georgia Society of CPA’s. She received her Bachelor and Master of Accounting with honors from Kennesaw State University and was then licensed as a Certified Public Accountant.
Lori LathemManaging Director, Chief Accounting Officer
Lori Lathem is a Managing Director and the Chief Accounting Officer of Jamestown. Prior to joining Jamestown, Ms. Lathem was a Vice President in Morgan Stanley’s Financial Controller’s Group and oversaw the financial reporting of the open-end real estate fund, Morgan Stanley Real Estate Special Situations Fund III L.P. Prior to her work with Morgan Stanley, she managed the portfolio accounting, analysis and financial reporting for the Florida State Board of Administration pension fund’s real estate portfolios. Ms. Lathem is licensed in Georgia as a Certified Public Accountant and is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Auburn University.
Noah PeetersManaging Director, General Counsel
Noah Peeters is a Managing Director and General Counsel at Jamestown. Prior to joining Jamestown in 2012, Mr. Peeters practiced in the real estate and capital markets group at King & Spalding LLP. He graduated with honors from Williams College with a degree in Art, and attended law school at the University of Georgia.
Shak PresswalaManaging Director, Co-Chief Investment Officer and Head of Capital Markets
Shak Presswala is a Managing Director and the Co-Chief Investment Officer & Head of Capital Markets for Jamestown. He jointly oversees acquisitions and leads all financing and dispositions activity. Mr. Presswala joined Jamestown in 2006 as a Senior Associate in Acquisitions and has served in a number of capacities with the company, including roles in Asset Management, Acquisitions and Capital Markets. He began his career as a corporate investment banking analyst at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, later moving into real estate with Wells Real Estate Funds where he worked in Acquisitions covering the Midwest and Pacific Northwest. After Wells Real Estate Funds, Mr. Presswala joined WestWind Capital Partners, then-advisor to the Kan-Am Funds, as an Acquisitions Associate prior to joining Jamestown. He is affiliated with the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate, the Atlanta Society of Financial Analysts, the Urban Land Institute, and the National Association of Office & Industrial Properties. Mr. Presswala earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the CFA Institute and received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a minor in Finance from Vanderbilt University.
Katy RanfosManaging Director
Katy Ranfos is the Managing Director of Human Resources at Jamestown. With over 10 years of Human Resources experience, she provides strategic and daily oversight over culture initiatives, payroll, compensation and benefits, recruitment, training and development, performance management and employee relations. Ms. Ranfos received the Professional of Human Resources designation and is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management. She graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of International Business and French, and also earned a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources Management from Kennesaw State University.
Joshua WechterManaging Director, Co-Chief Investment Officer
Joshua Wechter is a Managing Director and the Co-Chief Investment Officer of Jamestown. He joined Jamestown in 2011 as Vice President of Acquisitions. He started his career at DivcoWest Properties in San Francisco as an Investment Analyst, and then moved to Starwood Capital's acquisitions group on the East Coast, where he executed over $400 million in acquisitions. Mr. Wechter was responsible for sourcing and executing single-asset, corporate and development opportunities across all asset classes and geographies. He then moved to New York, joining Rubenstein Partners, where he was responsible for sourcing and executing office opportunities in the Northeast. Mr. Wechter is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York. He graduated with a dual degree from the University of Pennsylvania, earning a Bachelor of Science in Economics with a concentration in management from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts with a major in history.
